Healing Our Wounds

Welcome everyone to the Healing Hearts Website.  I want to talk to you about healing. God provides us with many different types of Healing; physical healing, spiritual healing, and emotional healing. For most people the most difficult healing to receive is emotional healing..

Traumatic events or someone saying something to us that is painful are examples of what can cause emotional wounds. Emotional pain is the hardest to see and the hardest to address. We just know that somewhere something happened to us, often in our childhoods. Since that painful event, all other things that sound like or feel like that first painful event builds on top of the first-hurt until the pain is so built up that it looks impossible to repair.

As time goes by, we end up in a place where we never wanted to be. Our self-esteem is low and we don’t know why. We think and believe things about ourselves that are not true. Things such as: I am stupid, awkward, too outspoken, or we live in the shadows not wanting to be found, etc. Far too often we end up in a place where we cannot love ourselves.

What has happened? We most likely believe lies about ourselves. What started out as a small lies have built up into a mountain-sized belief system. How do we take down this mountain? God is the only One and the only way this mountain can be removed.

Matthew 7:20 “Because you have little faith,” he said. “I assure you that if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Go from here to there,’ and it will go. There will be nothing that you can’t do.”

Wow! There is nothing we can’t do when we have faith in our God.  That is such an assurance.  I went through a training a little over a year ago called Theophostic  Prayer Training (Theo = God, Phostic = Light SO Theophostic = God’s Light). It opened my eyes wider than they have ever been. I know the name sounds a little crazy but the man who founded this, Dr. Ed Smith, discovered this while working with women who had been very damaged. He would help someone go back to the first time they were damaged by action and words. There they would invite Jesus in to tell them the truth. God always showed up, and when He did, the truth of that moment in time was given a different meaning and the entire mountain built around that lie disappears quickly and stays gone forever. Wow! How simple, but then again, isn’t that truly how our Father in Heaven works? He doesn’t take forever to heal any of us physically, mentally, or emotionally. He heals quickly and permanently.  There is only one thing needed:  Your willingness to find the source of your pain, listen to the truth, and be set free. Remember, God gave all mankind free will. We must give permission.

The same is true when we accepted God. We had to admit we needed Him and ask Him into our hearts, our minds, our body. Everything with God works this way. He could come in without your permission but He won’t. We must be willing to receive.

The Growing Place Counseling Center is one place that offers such counseling and help with finding the roots of our pain and getting rid of it forever. They are located in Chico at 1074 East Ave Suite A-4. Prayer is the first place we should all start when it comes to fixing our broken selves. Do nothing without first hearing from our Savior Jesus that this is the path for you. In drawing closer to Jesus we will all draw closer to healing all our wounds.
